New York

New York City – a great city for visitors of all ages.

Many worries about taking children for vacation in a big city – but even if you have only slightly played with the idea of taking the kids to New York City, we have only one advise: Just Do It!

5 Must-do activities for small and not that small travelers in New York City:

1. Visit the Central Park (1, 2 or 3 times…..):

Plenty of large playgrounds, the zoo from the Madagascar movie, an amusement park for the smallest children and plenty of shade on a warm summer day.

2. Take a boat trip to Statue of Liberty and Elise Island
Both islands offer free audio-tours for kids – us it – give kids a lot of info and something to focus on when strolling around
Make sure you have enough time to also explore Battery Park either before or after the boat trip

3. Make a Museums adventure
There are plenty to choose from and many offer special programs for children. Our favorites are:
American Museum of Natural History – a must for dinosaur lovers of all ages, but also so much more.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) – make sure you find the Children´s Lab

4. HighLine park
A park above ground where a monorail used to operate – with artists offering their art and jewelery, music bands playing, coffee and ice-cream stalls making visitors happy. Perfect for a stroll.

5. Explore the different districts and just feel the atmosphere

Enjoy the Big Apple. The days runs faster than you can imaging.

PS: To visit the most insane toy store, go to Toys-r-us at Time Square…..which other store do have their own Ferris Wheel?
The +3 Kids Travel tip: Most taxis only allow 4 passengers. If you arriving by air, we recommend to book a pick-up service in advance. It is much cheaper than two taxis and it is nice to know you have a car waiting for you. In New York City we suggest to use the public transportation system. The subway is easy (but very hot at the stations in summer time) and the bus system is an excellent way to see more of the city. All kids under 4 feet are free when traveling with an adult.
